Plan ahead, if your business electricity contract is coming up for renewal start getting alternative quotes and tariffs. In the same way that you would look for any other service for your business, it pays to shop around.
Many businesses have used the same supplier for a number of years and have not considered changing. Perhaps it is too much hassle or the costs are perceived the same across all business electricity suppliers. This may not be the case and it is worth checking out what deals are being offered.
With electricity prices being so volatile in the past couple of years, companies coming to the end of their existing two or three year energy contracts often experience a more challenging energy environment than they were used to due to the price hikes which have taken place while they were under contract.
There are
still plenty of competitive deals on the market, but businesses do need to take into consideration the energy markets have shifted, so prices may be slightly higher.
Take the time to understand your business’ type of energy consumption. Consider which tariffs would provide the greatest opportunity for savings, as electricity contracts are dependant on the type of customer, length of the contract and individual electricity needs.
