Interest free energy loans

If finding the extra money to upgrade out-of-date, inefficient equipment is proving challenging, the Carbon Trust may be able to help. They have devised an interest free Energy Efficiency Loan to help SME businesses fund the purchase of more energy efficient equipment. The loans are unsecured and interest free. They have no application fee and can be repaid over a period of up to four years.

According to the Carbon Trust, many borrowers have already found that their energy savings more than cover their loan repayments.

How much could my business borrow?

UK businesses can borrow between £5,000 and £200,000 to fund their proposed project, and some businesses in Northern Ireland may be eligible for larger loans of up to £400,000. To find our whether your business is eligible to apply for the Carbon Trust loan, click here.

The amount the Carbon Trust will lend is dependent on the reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions that it will achieve and the energy cost savings. The Carbon Trust offers an online Carbon Calculator to determine the maximum possible amount that might be offered. For each loan application an independent Energy Saving Assessor is required to validate the proposed energy savings associated with your project.
